Guidance

To maintain conductive ambience for academic rigour and behavioural etiquette the following guidelines are issued.
  • 1. We begin the day with student’s prayer followed by attendance taken at 9.30. The first hour begin after the prayer and end up at 10.30. The interval for 50 minutes after the second hour. The lunch break is at 12.45 for 45 minutes. Each hour attendance will be taken and the class will end up by 3.30.
  • 2. Students wear uniforms except Wednesday. On Wednesday formal dress has to be maintained. Low waist trousers, t-shirts, leg-ins and fancy wears are not permitted.
  • 3. Students should be a their identity card around their neck in the campus throughout academic schedule.
  • 4. Student should carry their cards when their represent the college for any function outside. Loss of identity card must be intimated to the college office immediately. Replacement of identity card will be done at the cost decided by principal.
  • 5. Student should submit their identity card when they complete their course to get their Transfer Certificate issued.
  • 6. Students participating in intercollege competitions should seek permission and carry the letter of authorization from principal.
  • 7. The consumption narcotic drugs, tobacco and in the alcohol etc.., is strictly prohibited in the campus hostels. Serious punitive action shall be taken against those who consume them.
  • 8. Students are strictly prohibited from indulging in anti-national, anti-social communal and political activities in the campus. Also prohibited from organising, attending or participating in any activity or agitation sponsered by student organisations of political parties.
  • 9. No students shall exhibit banners, flags, flex boards etc..., inside the campus without authorised permission of Principal.
  • 10. No Students shall enter in to any contract in the name of college except with prior written authorisation from college officials vested with the authority to sign a contract on the he half of college.
  • 11. Maintain the protocol to be followed in the classroom and campus. Students can enter the faculty room only with permission.
  • 12. No students can leave the campus during the academic hours without the written permission from class teacher or principal.
  • 13. Students should maintain a sense of belonging to the college, taking care of classroom, furniture, ICT and Lab equipments.
  • 14. Save electricity and water using the facilities only as per requirement.
  • 15. Park your vehicles in the allotted areas and drive cauriously to avoid accidents.
  • 16. Keep the campus spick and span. Avoid throwing garbage in the campus. Help the domestic staff to maintain toilets clean and pristine.
  • 17. The principal will keep in touch with parents or guardians of the students who are very backward in their studies and whose attendance is very inadequate and conduct unsatisfactory. If the parents or guardians do not respond or do not take any interest in such matter the principal will take appropriate action.
  • 18. No student shall indulge in any activity which may cause disruption to classes or disturbance in the college campus. If any student violates the above regulation, he is liable to be dismissed from the college.
  • 19. Any issues which are not covered by these rules will be decided by the principal.

The scholarship available to the students are :

  • 1. Higher Education Scholarship (KSHEC).
  • 2. Central sector scheme of scholarships for college and university students (by ministry of Human Resource Development, Govt. of India).
  • 3. Post metric Scholarship for students belonging to minority communities (Govt. of Kerala).
  • 4. Suvarna Jobilee Merit Scholarship (Govt. of Kerala) .
  • 5. Merit Scholarships awarded by the Govt. of India, The University and the State Government.
  • 6. Hindi Scholarships to students from non-Hindi speaking states.
  • 7. Scholarship for physically handicapped students.
  • 8. Travancore Temple entry proclamation scholarship to SC/ST.
  • 9. Scholarship for Fisherman students.
  • 10. Scholarship for Muslim / Nadar Community students.
  • 11. Scholarship to children of School Teachers.
  • 12. Fee concession and Scholarship under KPCR .
  • 13. Sports authority of India Scholarship for sports.

  • 1. All students of college shall keep with them the Identity card with their passport size photograph attested by the Principal.
  • 2. The Card Shall be produced for the purposes like voting at College election, payment of Fees, disbursement of Stipend and Lumpsum Grand, Scholarships etc...
  • 3. The Identity Card should be surrendered when the student leaves the institution.
There shall be general examination at the end of each term. In addition, there will be one test paper a month in every subject. Absence from examination / test will be viewed seriously. Parent / guardian of students should come to the college to sign the progress report and evaluate the general progress of students at the end of every term. No student will exempted from bringing their parents for the above purpose.
  • 1. Students should attend all the hours of academic schedule. A common register is maintained with the attendance taken each hours.
  • 2. A minimum of 75% attendance is required to appear for the university end semester examinations.
  • 3. Punctually is an integral of descipline. Attendance is given only with in the first five minute of an hours. Late comers will not be given attendance.
  • 4. A student taking leave should submit the prescribed leave form to the class teacher must be endorsed and signed by parent or guardian.
  • 5. Only when students represent the college in intercollege events with the required permission from principal, attendance is given as a exception.
  • 1. Students should maintain absolute silence and decorum in the lab.
  • 2. Students should use the computers as their own property and furniture in the computer lab should be kept intact.
  • 3. Logout and shutdown the computer, when you leave. Use the lab only for academic requirements.
  • 4. Each user must have one’s own personal account. Personal programme files should not be installed in the computer for licensing and security reasons.
  • 5. Hacking is prohibited and violation of lab rules will necessitate disciplinary action.
  • 1. A course schedule is issued to all students giving module wise plan of teaching, learning and evaluation process.
  • 2. Homework and assignments for each subject will set by the subject teacher with the deadline for submission.
  • 3. If an assignment is not submitted as per deadline, it is teacher’s discretion to decide on allotment of marks in the internal marks.
  • 1. Internal assessment is held twice in a semester, one in the middle of the semester and the second, prior to the End semester University examinations.
  • 2. Student should bring their hall tickets and identity card for the examinations besides student should keep their belongings outside the examination hall.
  • 3. Absolute silence should be maintained in the examination hall. Students can carry only permitted requirements.
  • 4. Sharing of examination paraphernalia with others in the examination hall strictly prohibited.
  • 5. Tearing out pages or parts of answer books provided for examination is strictly prohibited and punishable. Rough works and calculations must be done in the answer books only.
  • 6. Students found guilty of using unfair means in the examination hall will be reported to the University and may result in the students being debarred for a period of 3 years, be suspended or be expelled from the university.
  • 7. Students can leave the examination hall only during the last 30 minutes of the examination time.
  • 8. Question paper should carry only your register number and name. Students must sign the attendance sheet during every examination.
Students should pay the odd semester fee before 30th June and even semester fee before 31st December every year. The first semester fee should be paid by cash at the time of admission.
As per the UGC Regulations 2009, 'Ragging' constitute one or more of any of the following acts.
  • 1. Any conduct by any student or students whether by words spoken or written or any act with rudeness affecting a fresher or any other student.
  • 2. Indulging in rowdy or indisciplined activities by any student or students which causes or likely to cause or apprehension thereof in any fresher or any other student.
  • 3. Any act by a senior student that prevent, disrupt or disturbs in regular academic activity of any other student or a fresher.
  • 4. Any act of physical abuse including all variants of sexual abuse, homposexual assaults, stripping, forcing absceneand lewd acts, gestures, causing bodily harm or any other danger to health or person.
  • 5. Any act or abuse by spoke words which would also include deriving perverted pleasure, vicarious or sadistic thrill from actively or passively participating in the discomfiture to fresher or any other student.
  • 6. Any act that mental health and self–confidence of a fresher or any other student with or without an intent to derive a sadistic pleasure or showing off power, authority or superiority by a student over any fresher or any other student.
The UGC regulations stipulate that students can be expelled from a institute and debarred from taking admission to any other institute from a specified period after being guilty of the offence. As per the regulations any students can be fined up to Rs./2.5 lakhs if found guilty of ragging.
The possible punishments for those found guilty of ragging shall anyone or any combination of the following.
  • 1. Suspension from attending classes and academic privileges.
  • 2. Debarring from appearing the institution in any test / examination or other evaluation process.
  • 3. Debarring from representing the institution in any regional, national or international meet, tournament, youthfestival etc….
  • 4. Cancellation of admission also fine ragging from Rs.25,000 to Rs.25 Lakhs.
  • 5. Rustication from the institution and consequent debarring from admission to any other institution from a specified period.
Following the UGC regulations on curving the menace of ragging in higher education institution, SNDP YOGAM ARTS & SCIENCE COLLEGE, has set up a committee to ensure that ragging does not take place in the campus.

A dress code express both professionalism and uniformity. A professional appearance help to develop self-confidence and promote an environment and mutual respect and dignity. Wherever a dress code has been proposed, all students shall abide by it.
Substance abuse such a tobacco, alchohol, drugs etc….is contrary to be dignity of human beings and forms the habits that destroy persons, families and society. They should not brought into or used within the campus of SNDP YOGAM ARTS & SCIENCE COLLEGE.
The use of cell phones is strictly prohibited in the campus.
College has a grievance redressal committee in each department compressing course teacher and one senior teacher has the members and head of the department as the chairman. This committee shall addresses all grievances relating to the internal assessment grades of the students.
All the students of the college are members of the college union. They shall pay membership fee as directed by the university, with the first installment of the fee.
Office bearers of the union are elected by the students every year. The major objectives of the union are to promots awareness of the duties and responsibilities of citizenship, leadership qualities etc… with the club is functioning under the auspicious of the college union.
The College Union is affiliated to Kannur University.
The objective of Association is to faster and promote good will, understanding and co-operation among faculty, the student and parent / guardians of our students. The association seeks to encourage and facilitate the students in their curricular and co-curricular activities also association participate in the development activities of the college.
Students are initiated to creative as well as journalistic writings and other forms of library contributions through the college magazine. All the students of the college are subscribers college magazine.
College Bus facility is available from Nileshwar & Parappa and back, Bus fee can payable in installments in a year.
As a constituent of the University of Kannur, SNDP YOGAM ARTS & SCIENCE COLLEGE, Kalichanadukkam abides by all the university regulations. The university follows semester system in all its undergraduate programmes. University Examinations are held twice a year, at the end of each semester. DURATION
The duration of the UG programmes shall be 6 semesters. The duration of each semester shall be 90 working days inclusive of examination days.
SCHEME AND SYLLABUS
The UG programmes shall include common courses, Complimentary course and open course. The open course will be in the 5 semester.
GRACE MARKS
Grace marks may be awarded to a student for meritorious achievements in co-curricular activities carried out besides the regular class hours.
INTERNAL ASSESSMENT
20% of the total marks in each course are for internal assessment. The marks for internal assessment should be send to university. The internal assessment shall be based on a predetermined transparent system involving written test, assignment/ seminars / viva and attendance inrespect of theory courses and lab involvement and records, tests attendance inrespect of practical courses.

In addition to the above mentioned Semester fees, Admission fee, Caution Deposit, University Affiliation fee etc... are to be paid at the time of admission.
Fees once paid will not be refunded under any circumstance.
Student who discontinuous his/her programme after the closure of admission is liable to the whole programme fee.
Semester fees should be remitted on or before the specified date. Delay in the payment of fees will attract a fine of Rs. 100/- per week.
Any other matter not specifically covered by this will be decided by the Principal and Management.
